When it’s cold outside, it feels great to taste the warmth of home.
The afternoon is sweetened with this invigorating fruity Modì apple punch that hides a symphony of spices: cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and star anise come together to give you a warm and charming scent. A delicious punch to warm your heart too! Happy holidays.
Ingredients for for around 4 cupsful
for the Modì apple juice:
Modì apples | 2 (400g) (14oz)
water | 600g (20oz)
lemon juice | ½ a lemon
for the punch:
Modì apple juice| 700g (25oz)
cinnamon sticks | 2
green cardamom seeds | 2
star anise | 1
cloves | 1
brown sugar qs
Preparation
Apple juice: peel the apples, then core, seed and chop them.
Place them in a saucepan with the water and lemon juice.
Bring to the boil, cover and cook at a low heat until the apples are soft (40 min).
Whizz up the mixture using a hand-held liquidizer and percolate it with a fine mesh colander.
Punch: pour the Modì apple juice into a pan, add the spices (slightly crush the cardamom) and, if you wish, also add some brown sugar.
Leave to cook at a low heat for around 15 min.
Filter the punch and pour it into the cups.
Decorate with Modì apple slices and brown sugar sticks.
